Appearance[]
Lucy is a very small girl, with a height more like an elementary school student rather than a teen. She is noted to be unusually light even for her already small stature. She wears the standard student uniform at Sylvenia, though hers is a bit too big for her. She also wears a large witch's hat she received from her late mentor. She has purple eyes (Manhwa) or blue eyes (Novel) and white hair that goes down to her upper back, which she usually keeps in pigtails.
Personality[]
Befitting of her nickname "Lazy Lucy," Lucy tends to avoid work. She greatly prefers napping (particularly at Ed's camp in the Northern Forest) and eating junk food, such as Ed's homemade jerky. She appears to be somewhat hedonistic, only involving herself if it truly interests her or out of boredom. Due to her laziness, she has a record amount of demerit points at Sylvenia; however, due to being a natural prodigy in magic, she also has the record highest GPA in school history. She does not get along well with the maid Belle Maya and tries to avoid her. Lucy absolutely dreads being confined to the dorm. Ed later deduces that Lucy's idle nature is because of her promise to Glockt to protect Acken Island from at least one catastrophe. As such, her unwillingness to apply herself academically isn't out of laziness, but because she wants to save her strength and is spending the time monitoring for such a threat.
Despite her lazy demeanor, she does have people she cares about. She loved her mentor and adoptive father Glockt dearly and was for a time considering ressurecting him; she only abandoned this goal after convincing herself Glockt wouldn't have wanted this, though a part of her regrets missing that chance. While she hasn't directly expressed it, she is also fond of Ed Rothstaylor. She enjoys using his camp as a location to nap and the jerky he makes for her. She was genuinely concerned for Ed's health after he collapsed due to exhaustion, having watched her late father die because of it. Following Lucy abandoning the dream of ressurecting Glockt, she grew even more attached to Ed and started becoming jealous of the other girls trying to get closer to him. She strongly opposed Ed's consideration into moving out of the cabin in the forest into a proper dorm. Ed, in return, also no longer gets annoyed by Lucy's visits and is fond of her presence. When she though Ed had been killed, Lucy immediately went into a revenge-fueled rage that could only be quelled when Ed revealed himself to her. After this, she realized she had romantic feelings for Ed. Initially struggling with such an unfamiliar feeling, Lucy showed signs of being flustered when Ed interacted with her and greater jealousy towards the other girls competing for Ed's love.
History[]
During her early childhood, the sage Glockt adopted Lucy, recognizing her prodigous magical reserves and great potential, and started teaching Lucy. The two lived in an isolated cabin in the north of the main cabinet, since many people attempted to exploit Glockt's fame and fortune. At the end of Glockt's life, he entrusted Lucy with a magical tome he wrote and some parting lessons. She used ice magic to preserve Glockt's body and traveled to Acken Island, where Silvenia Academy was built. She would bury Glockt and set a memorial to him in a hidden away cave, which she would adorn with Glockt's belongings. Lucy remained on the island to honor Glockt's final wish for her: To protect Silvenia Academy from a great threat at least once.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Extreme Mana Reserves: Lucy possesses an incredibly deep well of mana to draw from. The amount of mana she possessed gave her the strength to be nigh unbeatable if she becomes a boss in the second act of the game. Her mana reserves are so vast that even a legendary-grade item made to surpress mana usage was overloaded and broke before it could surpress Lucy's mana. In fact, against weaker opponents, Lucy does not necessarily need to cast a spell. Combatants with decent experience will instinctually know that Lucy is an opponent that cannot be beat without extensive measures and a lot of destruction as collateral. Even at a young age, Lucy could maintain ice magic to preserve a body as well as spells to keep her awake to travel for three-months non-stop while most mages would struggle to maintain just the ice magic for an hour.
- Prodigous magic knowledge: Lucy is extremely well-versed in both offensive, defensive, and healing magicks. Even at the start of her time at Sylvenia Academy, she was able to cast high tier spells with ease and was the only person in Ed's group to recognize celestial magic. Thanks to the player who became Ed Rothstaylor, Lucy was in a position to enter into a contract with a high level spirit early on, leading to the first plot deviation from Ed's point of view. Her magic strength was strong enough to make the hide of the high-level fire spirit Takan brittle. She is able to naturally levitate and fly using her magic power. And, when rescuing Ed from prison, it was implied that she used her magic to drill a fairly large hold through a mountain to get to his location.
- Extreme magic aura control: In combination with her incredible magic reserves, Lucy can control its aura, to the point where flicking her finger will cause the magic aura to expand in a given direction, whose force would be enough to kill a man.
- Immediate magic replication: Lucy is able to quickly learn replicate magical spells she has witnessed.
